All About Wigs
Jeanette and I were astonished by remarks made after Alycia's presentation after a workshop presented at a psychiatric convention that Alycia would have looked more appropriate it she had used a better wig. On talking to her hairdresser, Jeanette found that the appropriate hair style as well as color can lengthen, broaden and enhance one’s facial feature Even if you love the shape and drape of long hair around your neck, it may lengthen your face and scream "man in a dress!” I appreciated her remarks as I love long hair, but was "read" quite often.
On evaluation of my wig selection, Her stylist commented that she felt that my blond wig was not appropriate for my facial features as it left me looking washed out. A later choice of a darker brunette color was better, but with a wig of light brown with auburn highlights she thought I would look terrific. So my mate and I spent an afternoon in a wig salon suggested by her. We came out with one that did wonders for my appearance

However after further experiences we investigated other options and after careful search and deliberations, we discovered, Take it from me; that it is worth the effort and money to invest in a high quality human hair wig, It required much more attention as it will lose it shape quickly, if wet or windblown. However, It can be restyled, and in some cases re-dyed. It can be shampooed and is not damaged by curling iron or hair dryers. On the other hand if just used around the house the newer artificial wigs re much easier to maintain as they brush out easier and maintain their shape even under the rain, sun and wind,. however they require wig shampoo and are easily damaged by heat. Based on thise efforts I now feel alive with the clear warm colors but not those that were too vibrant or tight. Through her attention to details, Jeanette has transformed me from a mousy introvert (1) to a women in tune with the world (2). A word of caution in purchasing a wig through the many outlets available is they are shown styled on a model and has no reflection on how they will fit you and look on you . you will have to take it to a professional hair stylist and have her create the look you desire, but in many cases, in dacron wigs they cannot be styled or dyed and in many cases have to be discarded as many houses do not accept returns.
